INTRO TO WHEEL THROWING

TUESDAYS from 6:00pm - 9:00pm

3/26, 4/2, 4/9, 4/16, 4/23, 4/30

***SOLD OUT***

In this 6-week introductory course, you will learn how to craft clay vessels in various forms using the pottery wheel. Students will have a chance to try all aspects of the process, from preparing the clay to refining their form. Our main focus will be on building skills in the throwing process. We will also have a chance to briefly explore surfacing, firing, and finishing work.

These classes have plenty of guidance for beginners, making them ideal if you have little to no experience with clay and want to test your interest and grow your skills.

If you have worked with clay in the past and feel comfortable on the wheel with little additional guidance, please register for Studio Time: Wheel Throwing on Thursday evenings.

MEET THE INSTRUCTOR: SAMANTHA MCCLUSKEY

Samantha McCluskey grew up in Bloomington and has been a Visual Arts instructor since 2017. Between graduation and returning to teach in Minnesota, she served in the Air Force, and lived in Switzerland, South Korea, Texas, California, and Maryland!

She believes that creating and consuming art is an invaluable part of the human experience; whether you enjoy making work, or participating as a reader, shopper, viewer, audience member, or gamer, you are interacting with art that another human has brainstormed, created, revised, and shared with the world!

Apart from art, Samantha loves spending time outside, traveling, swimming, and playing with her dogs.
